The following information will be sent to NTS via email. The cost for this service is $10 per month, with a one-time $55 processing fee. Once payment is received, NTS will send you the URL where you may download the Cisco VPN client software.

  • What is VPN?
    VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. While connected to the Internet, it allows you to connect to Washington University and get a University IP address.
  • When will I need to use the VPN Client?
    If you wish to access resources that are restricted to Washington University IP addresses or that require you to have a static IP address. You will use the VPN software client to connect using your existing ISP.

    Systems

    Network Services and Support are in charge of providing various systems services to Washington University. We administer E-Mail spam filters for incoming mail, as well as E-Mail routing, by way of Ironport appliances. We also provide You do not have access to view this node services via QIP appliances. RADIUS authentication is handled by a cluster of FreeRADIUS machines.

    IS&T provides Internet Services and backbone Network Access for the schools and departments at Washington University in St. Louis.

Individuals send or post messages to newsgroups where anyone may read them. There are thousands of different newsgroups, each devoted to a different topic. The term "news" is somewhat of a misnomer, as these are discussion groups, not news in the sense of "evening news".
